SourcingOS Learn · Free templateHiring Manager Intake Template
A structured intake worksheet that turns a job description into a searchable role artifact.
Ask for examples and tradeoffs, not only a list of technologies. The goal is to understand the work, environment, evidence, and acceptable adjacencies.
The work
- What will this person own in the first 6–12 months?
- What problems will they solve repeatedly?
- What does excellent performance look like?
- Which requirements are truly non-negotiable?
- Which requirements are preferences or proxies?
The talent market
- Which companies or environments produce strong candidates?
- Which adjacent titles have worked before?
- Which backgrounds look similar but usually fail?
- What geography is realistic?
- What would you trade off if the market is too small?
Evidence and verification
- What evidence would convince you someone can do the job?
- Which claims require authoritative verification?
- What can be inferred for discovery but not treated as verified?
- What candidate examples define “great,” “close,” and “wrong”?
How to use this with SourcingOS
Keep the filled template as a working artifact rather than a one-time intake form. Update it after candidate calibration, preserve the difference between requirements and discovery expansion, and record the evidence that changes the next search.
