How source lanes work
A source lane is a distinct search hypothesis with its own evidence surface, query logic, false-positive risks, and yield. Multiple lanes make it possible to see why a search is working or failing.

Why lanes matter
One giant search hides the cause of poor yield. Splitting the market into lanes lets recruiters compare direct fit, adjacency, donor-company, public technical evidence, research evidence, rediscovery, and provider-assisted discovery.
Measure contribution
Track how many useful candidates each lane discovers, how many are duplicates, and whether a lane adds net-new evidence-fit people beyond the sources already used.
Do not confuse lane with requirement
A lane is a discovery mechanism. Finding someone through a GitHub or donor-company lane does not make GitHub activity or that employer a requirement unless the hiring brief says so.
